No not the planet but the chocolate bar. Chocolate has become the favorite food for all, no matter if you are old or young, people though out the ages has enjoyed a chocolate bar. People use chocolate for different feelings; some use it to say sorry, others to say I love you. The most common and probably most recognized bar of chocolate in the last 50 years is the Mars bar.

The Mars chocolate bar was first manufactured in 1932 in a place called Slough in the United Kingdom. It was originally launched as the sweeter version of the then Milky Way bar which was sold in America. The Europeans has there own version the Milky Way but it was made by others and therefore was quite different than the others. The Milky Way from Europe was made of the following ingredients of milk chocolate, caramel, plain nougat and almonds.

The Mars bar from England weighs about fifty eight grams and has around 259 calories which works out to be over 10 perfect of our calories per day.

As mentioned earlier the mars bar originated in 1932 by the son of Frank Mars called Forrest Mars, be began with a small operation of around ten people in Slough and the chocolate bar created was like nothing seen in the area before. Typical chocolate from those days consisted of solid chocolate bars and never multiply ingredients. It was designed around the American Milky Way but was sold under the name Mars.

So both the Milky Way and the Mars Bar were the same but packaged under different names. Over time some changes were made by using ideas from the Double Decker, etc. Later on again the packaging were altered to suit the American market and to stand out.

Way back in 1966 the famous quote "A mars a day will help you work, rest and play" which was written by William Dagnall. William worked to break ties with other chocolate bars and them. Recently it was changed to "pleasure that is immeasurable" which was a youth attraction slogan. After the huge success of the Mars they came out with different sizes to suit the market demands, like King Size and the Mini Mars Bar to name a couple. The Chocolate bar called Mars has really become a true icon in chocolate bars and there can not be many people who have not tired one or fell in love.

For the purposes of this article, I will be rating safety and usability by all age groups very highly. After all, the purpose of working out is to promote better health. If certain workouts are too difficult to many people, then it will decrease the interest in exercising for those people. So let's get down to it.

If you have been working out for some time using various forms of exercises, you should know that one of the best workouts you can have is jumping rope. This is a fun exercise that can be quite fun as well. In terms of getting yourself sweating like a pig within a short amount of time, jump roping is great. Not only does it involve coordination, which causes your body to work harder, it involves your whole body since you're extending your body in an up and down motion. The mini trampoline provides this same up and down motion.

The problem with jump roping is that it takes a lot of practice and because you are jumping on a hard floor, this will create a lot of pressure on your joints and bones. The type of shoes you wear is very important to prevent from foot sprains and other injuries. Another thing is that because you are constantly pounding your feet on the pavement, it can cause your knees and back to hurt. The reason using mini trampolines is great is because just about anyone can do this at any age. All it requires is bouncing up and down on these rebounders to get a good workout. How To Get Started Turning Wood Pens

Although the craft of turning wood pens has been around for several decades, it recently has experienced somewhat of a revival. This is perhaps primarily due to the increased choices within the category of smaller mini-lathe power tools.

Another reason for the popularity of turning pens is the low start up investment in tools. Not only is the investment low, the tools used have a very long life span and could even be passed down to the next generation.

Listed below are the items to consider investing in to start pen turning:

o Lathe: This one should be obvious and you will find several options to choose from. The price for a new lathe will range between $100 to about $500 (all prices shown are March '08), depending on brand and features. I suggest you reading more about lathes in my ezine article reviewing the Jet Mini-lathe. In the article, I explain the process of how I chose my lathe.

o Turning Tools: I think you will need at least a gouge, parting tool, and scraper. Others may have a different list. One set of turning tools often recommended for stating out is the Harbor Freight lathe tool set that sell for less than $40. You can buy much better if you like, but this set will be more than adequate.

o Pen Mandrel: Think of the pen mandrel as a metal bar that fits between the "centers" of the lathe. The pen mandrel holds the wood blanks so you can turn them. There are several types available. I suggest you start with a collet closure mandrel, they offer a lot of flexibility when turning different lengths of blanks. You will spend about $20 or less for a good mandrel.

o Bushings: The bushings are used as a guide when turning your blanks to size for the specific pen kit you are building. You will want to buy the bushings sized for the pen you are turning. Be aware that pen kits and bushing from different manufactures may not be interchangeable. Later, when you develop more skill, you can use dial calipers to turn to size and you may choose not to use bushings at all.

o Drill Bit(s): Each style of pen will use a specific size drill bit to drill the hole for the brass tube. The most common is a 7mm used in the Slimline style. You can buy the drill bits individually or in a set. A set that many people use is a set of number, letter, and fractional drill bits from Harbor Freight. With a conversion chart, you will be able to find almost any size bit needed in this set. They often are found on sale at Harbor Freight for less than $40.

o Drill press or hand drill: Not much to say here, you are going to need something to turn the drill bits you bought. I've used a small bench drill press (less than $50) before and it worked fine. A hand drill will do, you just have to have a steady hand!

o Saw: Either a table, band, or a miter saw will work. The table saw and band saw are especially useful if you choose to cut you own pen blanks. Plan on spending a few bucks here, you and your budget will be the guide on this one. For more information on cutting your own pen blanks, see my ezine article on the subject.

o Clamps or bench vise: You will need something to press or squeeze the pen kit together. I've also used the bench drill press for this step.

o Pen Mill: This is a specialized tool, used to square your blanks after drilling and gluing in your tubes. You most likely will purchase the pen mill from the same place you ordered your kits. It will run about $20. Be aware there are several sizes of pilots available for the different pen kits or consider a complete kit with cutters and pilot shafts of different sizes. Usually the complete kit will be less expensive that buying the individual pilot shafts.

o Miscellaneous items: From here, we could go on and on. For starters you will need pen kits, pen blanks, CA (super) glue, and various grits of sandpaper. Likely, you will find you need other small items as you go, but these won't usually cost a lot of money.

For many of the larger more expensive items check eBay or Craig's List. Often you will find tools listed for sale at good prices on those web sites.

With this list, you will be well on your way to an exciting and enjoyable hobby that will last a lifetime. In addition, don't forget that with these tools not only will you be turning pens, but also bowls and other craft items. Indeed, it could even turn into additional part time income.

What is 192.168.0.1?

Many of you with a home set up local area network will find the Internet Protocol address of 192.168.0.1 to be familiar. Every time you enter 192.168.0.1 into your address bar you will see a homepage of your router briefing you to enter your username and password in order to access that particular web page.

A D-Link or Netgear router will have 192.168.0.1 set as a default for the router's built in webpage access. That's the place where you access by default the modem's settings for instance security by WEP, MAC address filtering, DHCP server settings, LAN network settings and many more. If you are using an all-in-one device that combines a modem, a router and a wireless access point, this will be the default page for you to do a set up on your connection type, log in ID and password.

There is a reason for using 192.168.0.1 as the default page to access the hardware. There are only certain ranges of IP address that we can use as private internet, namely the 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 block, the 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 block, and the 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 block. Certain IP ranges are reserved by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), and some for other purposes. In this case, the 192.168.0.0 block is your access to the public network where information is routed to your private IP address within the same block.

The 192.168.0.1 default address is a commonly used default address. Even though a highly skilled hacker can work through your router's login ID and password after finding the right IP address, changing the default IP address to anything else than the default one will help deter some unwanted access to your router settings. Just be careful not to mess up with your private network's settings as the personal system that you are using will be in that particular IP band as well.

When You Open the Hotel Mini-Bar, What Do You Grab?

I'm curious as to how many people partake of the goodies in a hotel mini-bar. For those that do, is it out of desperation for food or drink after arriving into a hotel room late at night with a growling stomach, or is it an easy and quick snack or beverage that you routinely indulge in? Enough people must obviously grab food and drinks from the mini-bars as the hotels would most likely not have them if they were not profitable.

I was traveling to a conference with a brand new consultant who was not familiar with the institution of a hotel mini-bar. Many of the food items were laid out on a beautiful cabinet (similar to this photo) with a price tag discretely to the side. He thought the goodies were all free. He snacked away both nights of the conference, thinking that the hotel was really great for supplying him with all of these neat food items. He was really surprised when he checked out and had over $60 on his bill for these munchies. Luckily he did not partake in any of the adult beverages or his bill could have been triple the amount!

With more and more hotels charging for these items based on the weight of the refrigerator, I rarely even open the refrigerators. Some travelers have the items removed immediately upon check-in so that they cannot be billed for items that could not have used. Others, upon receiving a key to the refrigerator upon check-in, say no to the key. I just ignore the items and monitor my bill at checkout... and in all my years of traveling, I have only been charged for 1 bottle of water that I did not drink.

I have not eaten any food item from a hotel mini-bar in years. I cannot bear the prices that are charged for a bottle of water, a candy bar or a soda. I could buy 3 full bottles of wine for what the hotels want to charge for a ½ bottle. Room service looks cheap compared to the menu shown! I am definitely not contributing to a hotel's bottom line with my lack of mini-bar indulgences.

The set-up of a restaurant bar depends on a long list of issues. Everything from the size of the building, to the theme, and of course the liquor license can affect the success of your bar. 3. Before building or tearing down, take precise measurements of the entire interior space. This will help you determine how much space you actually have for your newly added bar.

4. Consider where the best place for your bar is in the building. Keep in mind that a bar usually has double functionality. They often serve as a second waiting staff area as well. For these staff members, a bar in the center of the dining room is the ideal location. This is especially true considering the dinner rush. For the more intimate setting, placing a restaurant bar at the very back of the building will be helpful in drowning out the hustle and bustle of the streets and the loud kitchen. Be sure to consider the location of your restrooms as well and how your staff operates on a normal basis. Remember, location is everything.

5. Keep your bar stocked with all the necessary equipment. That means multiple coolers and fridges, ice bins and dispensers, glass racks, bar stools, and coasters. Your bar stools and coasters may just match the theme of your entire restaurant and bar. Be sure to invest in all the right décor to set the mood and invite guests.

6. The perfect lighting can really help you set the tone of your bar. It should be very subtle. It shouldn't be so dark that the customers can't read the menus but they shouldn't be so bright they feel like a spot light either. The perfect lighting situation for a bar includes recessed lighting and track lighting. Both of these come with dimmer switches that assist any staff member to control the intensity of each light bulb.

7. Know that your wine and beer salesperson can supply you with free merchandise whenever possible. What is the Best Olympic Bar?

This is both an easy and tough questions to answer. The easy answer is "Probably an Eleiko or Ivanko bar and it will run you more then a small car." This, however, typically is not the answer most people are looking for. What we have to really determine is what the person is asking so I have to answer the question with a question. What are you going to do with the bar? We carry a wide range of Olympic bars, each with a specific purpose.

Most of the people who ask that question are looking for a general purpose bar. They want to do mostly static type movements. Static movements are things like the Presses and the Squats and usually the Dead lift falls into this category as well. This trend has been slightly skewed recently with recent surge of sport specific and high intensity styles of training such as CrossFit. This style of training not only does the static lifts but the dynamic lifts also known as the Olympic lifts. These consist of the Clean and Snatch lifts.

For the power lifter the static movements are usually the focus. The weights on these lifts can be extremely high, into the several hundreds of pounds. You want a stiff bar without a great deal of whip (or flex). These bars are typically called power bars, and are sometimes referred to as a Texas Power Bar. They often are rated at 1500 or 2000 lb capacity. Some will have a 28mm grip some will have a 30mm grip and all will have medium to heavy knurling and center knurling. When it comes to power bars we recommend the Troy Texas Power Bar. It really does not have a comparison in the price range. With a great knurling, a 1 1/8″ (29mm) grip, and power markings, if you are looking to do power lifting you can not beat Troy in this department.

The Olympic lifts require a bar with more whip and collars that spin very freely and the good bars have needle bearings in the collar. The whip is to help absorb some of the weight as it is slung rapidly from the ground to the rack position or to the overhead position. It also will act somewhat like a spring in the pull part of the movement helping to get the weight moving rapidly upward. While this is important in the O-lift movements, you can see why this might be bad if you are doing dead lifts. You are pulling slow and hard with a great deal of weight, a whippy bar will sort of pull in the middle and then the weight will follow. You want whip for speed you want stiffness for slow. Typically a good O-lifting bar will have needle bearing or very free collars. This is important so you do not hurt your wrist as the bar turns under the weight to get in the rack or overhead position. If the collars do not spin free the person will not only be moving the weight up but around, but when the collars turn free it allows the bar to turn when pulling the wrist around and the weight stays stationary. York makes 3 great bars for Olympic lifting. On the inexpensive end is the Standard Needle Bearing Olympic Training bars. Really for the price you can not beat them. For serious training though we would recommend the USA Made Olympic Training Bars or the USA Made Elite Competition Olympic Bars.

The real issue comes when you have to combine the movements into one bar. Lets face it most people do not have $2000.00 to spend on two really good bars, one for the power lifts and one for the O-lifts. In fact most people do not want to spend $300.00 on one good bar! We always try to convince people that the money should be spent on the bar and buy inexpensive weight (note I did not say cheap weights). The bar is the connector and should be purchased well.

We feel that we carry two good all purpose bars that are affordable. While we carry two we only will sell one. Unfortunately in this department the one company had some issues with this style bar and while we sell all kinds of their products we just can not stand behind a bar that we felt had flaws and would not be covered by the companies warranty. So we recommend the Cap OB-86B bar.

The OB-86B is a 1200 lb capacity bar. It has enough whip and spin in the collars that you can do the O-lifts but is stiff enough to do the power lifts without noticeable lag. There are two other reasons we like this bar for mixed lifting. The first is that the bar itself if 28mm. There is another excellent bar that is on the market today that is specifically marketed as a mixed lifting bar that has a 30mm grip. While 30mm is OK for power lifts it is not good for doing a hook grip which is important for safe O-lifts. In fact women Olympic lifting bars are typically 25mm and weigh 15k (33lbs) for this very reason. The second is that it has no center knurling. There is nothing worse then catching center knurling on your throat or nose when trying to do an Olympic lift.

The CAP OB-86B is the bar that we regularly use ourselves and we have hundreds and hundreds of these bars being used across the country. While they are not the perfect bar, we feel that for the price you are getting more then what you have paid for.

Hoover Company Early History

The Hoover companies origins date way back to 1827 with Henry Hoover opening a tannery business close to Canton, Ohio and it was not until the early 1900s before a move into household appliances would begin. James Murray Spangler was a janitor in a Canton department store and was an asthma sufferer who in 1907 decided that the dust from his sweeping made his asthma worse and was going to do something about it. What he did was invent the first vacuum cleaner by first attaching an electric fan to his sweeper and finding that it would suck up dirt as it moved along. The next stage in his invention was to build a test machine that could catch and hold the dirt and he achieved this by assembling together a soap box containing a fan and electric motor with a broom handle and a pillow case to hold the dirt. He bettered his design and got a patent for it and with his son started to produce the Electric Suction Sweeper but struggled to produce even 3 machines a week.

James Spangler had a cousin Susan to whom he gave a machine who was married to W.H.Hoover a son of Henry Hoover who opened the tannery in 1827 which was today run by W.H. and was now starting to run into bad times. Using it at her home she showed it to her husband and he immediately saw the potential in it and done a deal with James to buy the patent from him and keep him on as a partner in a new company. The Electric Suction Sweeper Co as it was called started in the tannery with six workers and in December 1910 became the Hoover Suction Sweeper Co. James Spangler made several more designs all of which were patented before his death in 1915 only five years after the company started.

To promote this completely new and unknown product in 1908 when he first set up business W.H. advertised a free 10 day trial offer to anyone who was interested. Along with this offer he built up a local then a national network of retailers who would promote the 10 day offer and within the first year had sold nearly 400 machines. The company continued to expand its operation abroad with Britain and most of Europe having Hoover retailers by 1912. In 1919 the company opened a British factory in Perivale, Middlesex under a separate name Hoover Limited and this company was managed separately from the parent company.

All the major design advancements on vacuum cleaners up until the Second World War were all made by Hoover keeping them in front of their competitors every year. They brought in the first brush roll which was helped to loosen dirt in a carpet and later added the beater bar to it to increase the vibration to loosen even well lodged dirt. Another first by hoover were the introduction of a headlamp on the hoover to see in dim corners and under furniture. We all know that the Ka-Bar USMC knife is one of the toughest fixed blades out there. Does their Bull Dozier knife measure up to a time-tested classic? Here are my opinions:

What I like about the knife:

1. The Bull Dozier is made with a full tang that extends all the way to the end of the handle. This feature makes the knife very strong and unlikely to break even under the toughest conditions.

2. At 6.5 inches, the clip point style blade is long enough to be a wilderness survival companion or a tactical tool for military and law enforcement. Crafted with AUS 8A stainless steel that is black powder-coated, The Bull Dozier comes shaving sharp out of the box and holds an edge very well.

3. Your fingers have protection from slipping unto the blade because of the guard and well-designed handle. The handle is not only comfortable, but very tough and unaffected by elements like rain. The outer portion is made from glass-reinforced zytel, and the inside has kraton inserts for extra-comfort.

4. The hard plastic sheath is rugged and comes with a reversible belt attachment to allow for right or left handed carry.

5. Bull Doziers come with a plain (non-serrated) edge, which allows for easy sharpening in the wilderness or emergency situations.

What I didn't like:

I would like to see this same knife available with a silver blade and at least partial serrations.

Overall:

The Ka-Bar Bull Dozier is a perfect knife for camping, hunting or military use. It is tough as nails and will last you a lifetime.

There is good reason, if you need an extra room, to extend into the loft. In most homes, it is the largest bit of unused space. It generally works out to be the most cost effective option too. Sometimes it as straightforward as strengthening the floor, adding proper insulation and installing a window.

There are some considerations. First of all, you need to think about where the stairs would go. Ideally this would mean losing a little space on the landing but you may need to sacrifice space in one of the bedrooms if this is not an option. You will also need to ensure there will be sufficient head room - at least 2.1 metres - between the floor and ceiling in the finished room.

Most loft extensions do not require planning permission, unless you are living in an upstairs flat. This is obviously not the case if you live in a listed house - you will need to apply for Listed Building Consent. In conservation areas permission is required for extensions of dormers. You will, however, need to get Building Regulations approval and, unless you live in a detached house, possibly a Party Wall Agreement with neighbouring homes.

The cheapest way of going about getting a loft conversion is to find a specialist company that have their own designers. But you can enlist the services of an architect if you prefer and then get quotes from a building company. It is prudent to check they are accredited.

Lightweight! Good mornings, done extended rest pause set style to near failure, Myo-Reps style. These were done after rest paused rackpulls with 305lbs x 20 Max Stim style. Needed to use slightly longer rest periods, and may have to increase it up to 20-25secs, because I didn't get a good bar position on my back as I started to tire, I felt my arms supporting half of the weight. Could feel my thoracic spine start to round as I neared failure on the mini sets, and form looked more rushed and sloppy. Need to reset between reps focus more, but I didn't feel like I was gonna injure anything at any time. Form was good on the warmups and initial set. Erectors and glutes so much stronger now. Felt so light after the rack pulls, that I only felt my glutes working, hardly any erector pump even after the mini sets. Probably at least 2 reps from failure on first part.
